Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.
Genesis 2:24
Tomorrow Samantha and I will have fulfilled the goal. We will have saved our hearts for each other. We will have slowly given our hearts away with the peak being at the wedding altar. Tomorrow two hearts will truly become ONE.
On my drive home tonight some interesting thoughts went through my mind. Tomorrow will be a big change for a lot of people, not just Samantha and Myself.
Tomorrow a little girl will be all grown up and starting a life of her own.
A stubborn little boy, will have grown up and become a man.
Two mom's will feel like they have lost their babies.
And yet they will be filled with such joy.
Two dad's will silently weep with pride.
Many will watch with admiration.
For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.
Ephesians 5:31
And yet as I feel so reminiscent I cant help but wonder what must our moms be feeling? What will Samantha and I feel like on this big day for our children? My guess, a mix of sorrow and excitement. The feeling of losing and at the same time gaining.
What must our dads be feeling? My guess, pride at their little kids, all grown up. Happy, so happy it moves them to tears.
I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.
I John 1:4
All I know is that as a parent, I would have a hard time handling all this.
As I sit here writing for the last time before the wedding, I find myself reminiscing of my own family and childhood. Hard to believe I will call a new place home. I grew up in this house, I can remember Christmas trees and presents, and hanging out with my brother. I can remember dinner times. I can remember hot summers with no air conditioning, I can remember cold winters, with the wood-stove going. My oh my where has the time gone? And yet I find myself thinking of the family God has for Samantha and Myself. It wont be long, (if the Lord tarries) that there will be little babies in our future. Wonderful, precious children to raise for the Lord.
So as it has been said, "Marriage is not just a change, its a revolution."
Nervous? Yes.
Excited? Very.
Ready? OH YEAH!
And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh? Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.
Matthew 19:5-6
